Shadow Treasurer Curtis Pitt called on the Premier to put an
immediate end to his Government’s ridiculous, taxpayer-funded asset
sales spin campaign, following revelations the Premier has previously
likened a long-term lease to ‘selling off the silverware’.
“Just like his Treasurer, Campbell Newman knows his asset sales program is just that, a sale, where Queenslanders will lose all the control of and all the profits from our electricity and port assets,” Mr Pitt said.
“In 2011, Mr Newman said of the Abbot Point Coal Terminal long-term lease:
“I think it’s a mistake, selling off the silverware’.
“The Premier’s own words reveal his embarrassing spin campaign is complete rubbish.
“If it’s a mistake to sell off the silverware, why is the Premier now embarking on the biggest asset sell-off in Queensland’s history?
“Queenslanders will see through this Premier’s arrogant attempts to pull the wool over their eyes.
“All the taxpayer-funded spin doctors in the world can’t hide this Premier’s arrogance in the eyes of Queenslanders.”
Mr Pitt said the Premier’s comments matched those made by the Treasurer and the Deputy Premier.
“Queenslanders have long since switched off to this Government, and that’s because they’re sick of lies and sick of the arrogance they get from them at every turn.”
