Newman Govt confirms support for Abbott’s $7 GP Tax

Media Release

Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk said Queenslanders’ family budgets were in the firing line, with the Newman Government supporting Tony Abbott’s unfair GP Tax.
“Tonight in State Parliament Labor moved a motion condemning the Abbott Government’s $7 GP Tax and the Newman government refused to support it,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
“That can only mean one thing: Campbell Newman and the LNP support Tony Abbott’s tax on visits to the doctor."
“Whether its pensioners, students or families, everyone will feel the pain from Abbott’s GP Tax and Campbell Newman seems to think that’s a good idea."
“It’s no surprise, given the Premier admitted today he has no idea how high electricity prices will go after his asset sales."
“This Premier has no concerns for the financial pressures every Queensland family is feeling."
“The average family is already paying $1,200 more tax each year, power prices have increased by record levels, unemployment is at its highest levels in over a decade, and now Campbell Newman is wholeheartedly behind Tony Abbott’s slug on GP tax."

“While this Government is arrogantly dismissing the concerns of Queenslanders, Labor will stand up against the Newman and Abbott Government’s unfair tax increases.”
