The latest update from the Department of Health confirms that tobacco and cigarette consumption is at the lowest level ever recorded.

Smoking rates have been falling for more than 20 years and continue to thanks to the plain packaging reforms introduced by Labor.

Each year smoking kills an estimated 15,000 Australians, with social and economic costs of $31.5 billion.

This is why Labor introduced world-leading plain packaging laws that are now being pursued across the world.

Only the tobacco industry thinks plain packaging is a bad thing - that's because they know they'll be selling fewer cigarettes to fewer people.
