Deputy Opposition Leader, Tim Mulherin, says the Newman
Government is indulging itself at taxpayers’ expense while failing to
create jobs in regional Queensland.
“A symbol of LNP self-indulgence is the $4,300-a-week charter flight bill of Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney."
“Mr Seeney is on track to cost taxpayers another $200,000 this financial year for taking charter flights between his home town and Brisbane even though commercial flights are available."
“Since the LNP won office Mr Seeney has shunned the available commercial flights and prefers to fly between his home in Monto and Brisbane by charter flights."
“In the July to December 2013 half-year the Deputy Premier’s charter bill cost taxpayers more than $91,000."
“So he is on track to yet again to have taxpayers foot a charter bill of around $200,000 this financial year."
“In 2012-13 his charter flight bill was more than $207,000."
”In the first three months of the Newman Government his charter costs totalled $64,000."
“So in little more than 20 months Mr Seeney has rung up charter flight bills totalling $363,000 which works out to be more than $4,300 a week."
“It is ludicrous that within days of the Treasurer Tim Nicholls claiming the state is broke, it is revealed that Mr Seeney is spending that much on himself,” Mr Mulherin said."
