NEWMAN WANTS ABBOTT TO SACK, SELL AND SLASH

Media Release

He’s sacked thousands of workers, slashed spending, and sold assets for hundreds of millions of dollars less than they were worth.
And now Campbell Newman wants Tony Abbott to follow his lead, says Opposition Deputy Leader Tim Mulherin.
“The Newman Government has made a submission to the National Commission of Audit, urging the federal government to follow its disastrous program of sacking, selling and slashing,” said Mr Mulherin.
“The submission calls for the sacking of the health and education bureaucracy in Canberra and for more partnering with the private sector to deliver traditional government services.
“In other words, the Premier wants the Prime Minister to use his economic blueprint even though it has been disastrous for Queensland and would be equally disastrous for Australia.
“Under this simplistic, idealistic and reckless economic model unemployment has risen in Queensland while economic growth has fallen.
“As of November there were fewer full time jobs in Queensland than when Campbell Newman was elected.
“In December, the Auditor-General highlighted the loss of hundreds of millions of dollars on the sale of seven office towers in Brisbane and questioned whether the LNP privatisation program was producing any benefits.
“The Newman approach has been to end the careers and prospects of thousands of families whilst slashing infrastructure spending. Yet the LNP government is arrogantly pushing forward its empty ideology in calling for the scrapping of Health Workforce Australia, the Australian National Preventative Health Agency and the National Health Performance Authority,” said Mr Mulherin.

“There was no warning before the state election that the LNP would make massive cuts to health and education, to sell our assets or to privatise our services,” Mr Mulherin said.
