Dedicated professionals in child care centres around Australia will be breathing a sigh of relief today that support to boost their wages is on its way.
Earlier this year the Parliament passed legislation to establish a $300 million Early Years Quality Fund (EYQF) to assist more child care centres to get higher wages.
Centres around the nation with signed contracts had been left in limbo about the status of their Early Years Quality Fund contracts despite the Coalition's election policy document clearly stating:
"If elected, the Coalition will honour funds contracted from the EYQF"

Whilst the Assistant Minister had been delaying any payments being made, the Prime Minister today stepped in to provide the certainty that the sector required.
When asked in Question Time today about the EYQF the Prime Minister stated:
"We will absolutely honour all of our commitments and contracts which have been entered into will be honoured."
"Educators have already been waiting for too long. The payments need to flow immediately. This money needs to be hitting the bank accounts of educators before Christmas," Shadow Minister for Early Childhood, Kate Ellis, said.
"The Assistant Minister has been dithering and delaying, but now that the Prime Minister has stepped in and confirmed what she wouldn't, the long wait must end immediately."
