LNP Should Release All Cabinet Documents On Pay Debacle: Palaszczuk

Media Release.

Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk has called on the Premier to immediately release all Cabinet documents relating to the Newman Government’s greedy attempt to reward themselves millions and millions of dollars’ worth of pay rises.
“Queenslanders will never forget the arrogance of the Newman LNP Government, after awarding themselves pay rises worth millions and millions of dollars and expecting to get away with it,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
“Queenslanders deserve to know the truth about how the out-of-touch Newman Government came to make its arrogant decision last week."
“It cannot be forgotten that Mr Seeney has repeatedly said the Premier fully supported the 42% pay increase – which includes the increase of almost $120,000 a year to the Premier’s own pay packet."
“As Acting Premier, Mr Seeney has stood by these obscene pay rises for over a week, and was still defending them just hours before announcing they would be scrapped."
“The Premier must declare if he still has confidence in the Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney after his shambolic handling of MP pay rises."
“No-one believes that Mr Seeney had no knowledge of the full extent of pay increases that resulted from his decision."
“It’s either amateur hour on the Deputy Premier’s watch or extreme greed. Either should warrant his removal from the position of Deputy Premier."
“In the interests of transparency, the Premier should immediately release all Cabinet documents relating to this debacle."
“Unlike the LNP Government, the Opposition opposed the pay increase when it was $57,000 a year, and we certainly opposed the increase to the pay rises for the Premier and Ministers of over $100,000 per year."
“The Opposition understands that many Queensland families are struggling to make ends meet, while the LNP has been arrogantly focused on massive pay rises for politicians.”
