Cairns expo brings work and training opportunities.

Media Release.

Monday, 01 July 2013
Hundreds of work and training opportunities will be on offer at the upcoming Jobs and Skills Expo in Cairns.
The event on 26 July is the latest in the series of successful Australian Government Jobs and Skills Expos held across the country since 2009.
Minister for Human Services, Senator Jan McLucas today encouraged local job seekers, employers and training organisations to get behind the expo.
"More than 27,800 Australians have been connected with employment and training opportunities since the expos began," Senator McLucas said.
"We know these expos are getting results—bringing employers, job seekers and training providers together in a single location."
"The last Jobs and Skills Expo in the Cairns Priority Employment Area was held in June 2012 and attracted 3880 attendees and 67 exhibitors. Around 340 people were connected with employment and training opportunities on the day."
The Cairns Jobs and Skills Expo will have a jobs board listing current job opportunities and skills board where local skills training organisations can promote training opportunities available in the local area.
"This expo is part of the Government's ongoing commitment to improve employment options for local people," Senator McLucas said.
"Exhibiting is free and it's a great way for local employers to connect with motivated local job seekers."
"If you can't be an exhibitor, your job vacancy or skills training opportunity can still be displayed at the expo on the day."
The Cairns Jobs and Skills Expo is the 90th held since 2009 and the 21st this year.
The expo will be held at the Cairns Showgrounds, Mulgrave Road, Cairns from 10 am to 3 pm.
Organisations interested in exhibiting should call 13 11 58 or visit the website at: http://www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/information/jobs-and-skills-expos
