Premier Has No Idea Of Impact Of Sackings

Media release

Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk says the Premier today showed he has no idea how many people he has sacked and therefore how many Queensland families have lost their breadwinner.
Ms Palaszczuk said at the Premier’s appearance before a parliamentary Estimates Committee today the Premier failed to answer questions on:
· the actual number of people he had sacked rather than the clinical definition of full-time equivalents (FTEs);
· how many of his employees had taken stress leave as a result of his mass sackings; and
· how many jobs had been lost in the community sector as a result of his savage cuts to funds for frontline services.
“I am astounded that the Premier who has scrapped 14,000 full-time equivalent jobs could not say how many people that figure represented,” Ms Palaszczuk said
“At his appearance at today’s Estimates Committee hearing today the Premier also showed he had no idea how many of his own employees had taken stress leave as a result of his government’s mass sackings and savage cuts to frontline services.
“The Premier showed today how little he and his LNP government care about people.
“His failure to answer key questions about his mass sackings proves he looks on jobs simply as a number on a sheet of paper needing to be reduced.
“He fails to recognise the actual people occupying and doing those jobs or the families who depend on them.”
Ms Palaszczuk said she was also disappointed that the Premier had failed to visit any community organisations to see the impacts of his government’s cuts to frontline funding.
